Liberal Party Spokesperson, Purged District Governor and Deputy Governor Engin Avcı Makes Striking Statement: “They Could Not Destroy Our Sense of Justice”
Liberal Party Spokesperson, purged District Governor and Deputy Governor Engin Avcı drew public attention with a recent statement. Avcı announced that at the age of 41, he retook the university entrance exam, earned admission to law school, successfully completed his legal education, and passed the Legal Professions Entrance Exam (HMGS), gaining the right to begin his legal internship.
Stating that he has been struggling for years to return to public service, Avcı emphasized that despite having a finalized acquittal decision issued in 2018, he has still not been reinstated to his position. He noted that a matter which should have been resolved within the framework of law was left unresolved for years, yet he never gave up his fight.
In his statement, Engin Avcı stressed that despite all the injustices and hardships they experienced, they never harmed society and never harbored hatred toward anyone. He underlined that throughout their lives, they tried to stand on their own feet solely through hard work, knowledge, and personal effort.
Avcı used the following words:
“Perhaps they took many things away from us; however, they could not take away our determination to work, our sense of justice, and our will to rise again.”
The post also renewed calls regarding the implementation of European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) rulings and the restoration of rights for those affected by emergency decrees (KHKs).
While the legal struggles of thousands of people dismissed from public service under emergency decrees issued after 2016 continue, statements from individuals who remain unable to return to their positions despite acquittals and non-prosecution decisions continue to fuel public debate.
Engin Avcı’s statement quickly gained significant attention on social media, with many users sharing messages of support for his educational journey and legal struggle.
