Liberal Party Slams CHP Convention Ruling: “Türkiye’s future lies not in political engineering, but in a strong rule of law and free democratic politics”

Liberal Parti has released a strongly worded press statement regarding the court ruling on the CHP’s 38th Ordinary Convention. The party argued that the decision by the 36th Civil Chamber of the Ankara Regional Court of Justice not only affects a political party, but also calls into question the legitimacy of democratic political life in Türkiye.

In its statement, the Liberal Party emphasized that such a ruling concerning the main opposition party’s convention and elected administration could have serious consequences for democratic competition, political legitimacy, and the rule of law. The statement stressed that in democratic systems, political struggles should be resolved through the ballot box, and warned that judicial processes turning into tools for reshaping politics undermine public confidence in democracy.

The party also noted that the growing public perception that judicial decisions in recent years have been made under political pressure has damaged Türkiye’s international reputation and deepened social polarization.

According to the statement, decisions that further weaken the principle of separation of powers narrow the space for democratic politics and seriously damage the public sense of justice. The Liberal Party underlined that “what Türkiye needs is more law, more democracy, and more freedom.”

The statement, signed by Liberal Party Chairman Zübeyir Gülabi, highlighted the following message:
