MHP leader Devlet Bahçeli addressed the Turkish Parliament, highlighting education, child safety, digital risks and dismissing early election debates.
Devlet Bahçeli, chairman of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), delivered a comprehensive speech during his party’s parliamentary group meeting at the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, addressing key issues including education policy, digital risks affecting children, social security concerns, and the current political agenda.
Opening his remarks with a tribute to April 23 National Sovereignty and Children’s Day, Bahçeli emphasized the historical significance of the parliament’s foundation, describing it as “the transformation of national will into state authority.” He underlined that April 23 is not merely a celebration, but a symbol of sovereignty and commitment to future generations.
Bahçeli stressed the strategic importance of education, stating that it should not be reduced to daily political debates but regarded as a matter of national survival. He highlighted the need to raise younger generations not only with academic skills but also with strong moral values, character, and national consciousness.
Addressing the impact of digitalization, Bahçeli warned that uncontrolled use of social media platforms can lead to increased violence, isolation, and identity issues among youth. He noted that some digital environments may evolve into spaces that normalize or even glorify crime, calling for stricter oversight.
Referring to recent school attacks in Şanlıurfa and Kahramanmaraş, Bahçeli stated that such incidents cannot be treated solely as security issues. He emphasized the need for stronger cooperation between families, schools, and the state, stressing that protecting children is a collective societal responsibility.
On political debates, Bahçeli dismissed calls for early elections as “untimely and unnecessary.” He reaffirmed the importance of maintaining stability in Türkiye and stated that elections will be held as scheduled.
Concluding his speech, Bahçeli reiterated that April 23 represents a vital legacy for future generations and emphasized that ensuring children grow up in a safe, healthy, and conscious environment must remain a top priority.
