Liberal Party Chairman Zübeyir Gülabi issued a statement addressing media ownership and political communication in Turkey. He argued that most of the country’s print and broadcast media is controlled by the ruling administration, limiting the visibility of opposition parties in traditional media outlets.

According to Gülabi, opposition groups have increasingly turned to social media platforms to communicate with the public. He stated that accusations describing these activities as attempts to generate online engagement undermine the ability of opposition parties to reach wider audiences.

Gülabi also said the current media landscape reinforces a centralized political communication model centered in Ankara. He argued that this structure reduces opportunities for direct interaction between political actors and citizens.

The Liberal Party leader further stated that criticism targeting opposition use of social media could weaken the public’s right to access diverse sources of information. He emphasized the importance of expanding media plurality and removing barriers that limit access to different viewpoints.

Party representatives also called for greater transparency in media ownership. They stated that citizens should have access to information from multiple independent sources in order to strengthen democratic debate and informed public discussion.
