U.S. President Donald Trump stated that they will reach a great deal with Iran and that Iranian officials have no option other than negotiations.

Speaking by phone on CNBC’s Squawk Box program, Trump commented on Iran. He said, “We are in a very strong position in negotiations. The blockade in the Strait of Hormuz has been tremendously successful. We fully control the strait.”

Regarding the possibility of a second round of talks with Iran, Trump said, “We will ultimately reach a great deal. I think they have no other choice. We have destroyed their navy, destroyed their air force, eliminated their leaders. Call it whatever you want, this is regime change. I didn’t say I would do it, but I effectively did it indirectly.”

When asked whether he would extend the ceasefire to reach an agreement ending the war, Trump replied, “I don’t want to do that. We don’t have that much time.”

“The military is eager to act”

Asked what would happen if there is no deal with Iran, Trump said the U.S. would resume attacks. He stated, “I’m expecting bombing, because I think that’s a better approach. We are ready. The military is eager to act.”

Trump also emphasized that the U.S. military has replenished its stockpiles during the ceasefire period.
