At a ceremony attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Romanian President Nicușor Dan at the Istanbul Naval Shipyard Command, the CAm. Roman corvette was delivered to the Romanian Naval Forces, while TCG Koçhisar officially entered service with the Turkish Naval Forces.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Romanian President Nicușor Dan attended a ship delivery and commissioning ceremony held at the Istanbul Naval Shipyard Command. During the event, the CAm. Roman corvette was delivered to the Romanian Naval Forces, while the TCG Koçhisar Offshore Patrol Vessel was commissioned into the Turkish Naval Forces.
Speaking at the ceremony, President Erdoğan addressed Türkiye’s ongoing defense industry projects. He stated that efforts to expand domestic production capabilities continue and highlighted the country’s progress in naval platform development.
Erdoğan noted that Türkiye is capable of producing a wide range of naval vessels and exporting maritime platforms to various countries. He also stated that, under the agreement with Romania, Türkiye has exported a warship to a NATO and European Union member state for the first time in its history.
Officials announced that the CAm. Roman corvette has entered service with the Romanian Naval Forces. The TCG Koçhisar is expected to perform missions including surveillance, reconnaissance, maritime security, search and rescue operations, and other naval duties.
Following the speeches, ship commanders received flags, pennants, and official commissioning documents. The ceremony concluded with the raising of flags aboard the vessels and a commemorative photo session.
