Former 21st Term Istanbul Member of Parliament Nesrin Nas Criticizes CHP and Kılıçdaroğlu: “Not an Opposition Party, but a Directorate”

Nesrin Nas made striking remarks about Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu and the CHP. Claiming the party has lost its opposition identity, Nas called on Özgür Özel to act together with the people.

From Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu’s statements, it is understood that he has no intention of either holding a party congress or convening the parliamentary group. Through every action and every word, he is effectively saying: “I was appointed here as a general manager.” This is no longer an opposition party, but rather a general directorate operating under the control of the government.

This is precisely what Erdoğan wanted. In his view, the CHP, as the founding party of the Republic, represents both the symbol and the stronghold of a regime he seeks to dismantle. For the CHP, not only winning elections but even continuing to exist as a credible political alternative, constitutes a threat to the sultanistic regime Erdoğan aims to establish, and would undermine the constitutional order emphasized by the U.S. regional envoy Tom Barrack.

It appears that, rather than shutting down the CHP outright, there has been an understanding with Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu to strip the party of its role as an opposition force and allow it to continue existing merely as a state-controlled general directorate.

Only Özgür Özel, acting together with the people, can disrupt this game. Before this structure — agreed upon by both domestic and international power centers yet working against the interests of the public — becomes fully entrenched, finding a new path is the foremost responsibility of all those who seek democracy in Türkiye, especially Özgür Özel, who currently carries that political mission. This is the path history has placed before us.

Now is precisely the moment to say together:

“There is no salvation alone; either all together or none of us.” It’s time to say it.
