Brentford move to sign Burnley forward Jaidon Anthony for £15m, bolstering their attacking options ahead of the season with a professional deal.
What happened, where, who announced it, when and the main outcome: Brentford are set to sign Burnley forward Jaidon Anthony in a move reported by club sources on Monday; the transfer is understood to be for £15m, rising to £17m with add-ons, and Anthony is expected to sign a four-year contract with an option for a further year.
Anthony, 26, produced nine goals and four assists in 38 appearances across all competitions last season while at Burnley, although the club were relegated from the Premier League.
The move appeals to Anthony as a London native who began his career in Arsenal’s academy, and Brentford manager Keith Andrews views him as fitting the team’s style of play.
Brentford have already strengthened their squad this summer by signing defender Jannik Schuster from RB Salzburg in a deal reported to be worth up to £16m including add-ons.
Anthony’s career path included leaving Arsenal in 2016 without a senior appearance, followed by loan spells at Weymouth and Leeds United, before establishing himself at Bournemouth.
He initially joined Burnley on loan from Bournemouth in 2024; that move became permanent last summer when Burnley triggered an £8m obligation-to-buy clause after promotion.
Burnley were relegated after one season in the Premier League and will face West Ham in their opening Championship fixture on 16 August.
Brentford narrowly missed out on European qualification last season, finishing ninth on goal difference, and will open their Premier League campaign against Tottenham.
