Morocco midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi draws interest from Manchester City and Europe after World Cup debut

Sources told BBC Sport that Manchester City have included the midfielder on their list of targets, while Lille are reported to have set an asking price between £69m and £86m for the player.

Amine el Amri warned that despite the transfer interest, Bouaddi is only 18 and must remain grounded to avoid being taken out of his context, adding that Premier League clubs increasingly target younger players who combine technical skill and physical attributes.

Bouaddi debuted for Lille at 16 and has made 96 appearances for the club; he earned his Morocco debut in May and featured three times at the World Cup up to the last-16 stage, where Morocco faced Canada.

Statistically, Bouaddi led under-18 players across Europe’s top five leagues last season, recording the most minutes (2,329), most appearances (30), 151 possession wins, 59 tackles and 27 interceptions among his age group.

Within Manchester City’s context, the club had already agreed a record deal for Elliot Anderson and were exploring midfield options following interest in Sandro Tonali and uncertainty over Rodri’s contract situation, making Bouaddi a potential long-term addition.
