There is intense work underway on the airport, roads, and environmental landscaping because NATO members are coming. Is this driven by a desire to impress, or by fear?

If it is out of fear, then I wish NATO would come every month so they could also visit marketplaces, pensioners’ associations, young people, universities, and see the current state of education. They could also meet those affected by emergency decree laws (KHKs), those who have passed away, those who were exiled, and those who claim to be innocent while imprisoned.

They could see the Parliament building that was bombed. They could also listen to those who say they have been marginalized by being labeled as members of terrorist organizations—a number they claim has reached three million.

They would be offered bread and onions, because these people do not live in palace luxury.

NATO members should also visit the courthouses. They might observe and learn about practices such as asset seizures, trustee appointments, and annulment rulings within the justice system.

They might also come to understand Kobo Abe’s novel The Face of Another.

So, best of luck. After all, Turkey has been a NATO member since 1952, and NATO’s plans have long been carried out in our country. If there are shortcomings, this government stands fully by your side. Just tell them what needs to be done, and they will not hesitate. Keep providing legitimacy, and don’t worry about the rest.

There is no shift in alignment, after all. Perhaps what I have said could mark a new beginning.

If drummers from Keskin were to come and perform, NATO members would probably be pleased.

They should also be told about the judgments of the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR). They could ask the former Minister of Justice, who repeatedly states that “Turkey is a state governed by the rule of law,” whether this is truly the case.

Perhaps they simply have not understood. 🇹🇷
