The New Party should also publicly disclose the names of other individuals, if any, mentioned in the information and documents in its possession, just as it did with Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya. This is not an issue that can be brushed aside by treating the resignation of a single person as the end of the matter.

New Party spokesperson Zeynel Emre stated that there was information indicating that ministers, deputy ministers and members of parliament were also involved in the transactions. He called on the government, saying: “You have more information than we do. You know very well who did what. Go ahead and disclose it.”

Meanwhile, New Party İzmir MP Ümit Özlale made the following allegations in Parliament and during a press conference, also sharing transaction numbers from the Central Securities Depository of Türkiye (MKK):

He alleged that Trade Minister Ömer Bolat had carried out a transaction worth 170 million Turkish lira through Hedef Portföy and asked: “Does the transaction worth 170 million lira, bearing MKK transaction number ………………, belong to you?”

He also alleged that a transaction worth 830 million lira had been carried out in the PHE and PRY funds through Hasan Özdemir, the father of Family and Social Services Minister Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş. He demanded an explanation, asking: “Did your father, Hasan Özdemir, or someone else acting on his behalf carry out transactions totaling 830 million lira in these funds? One of the MKK document numbers is ………………”

Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş categorically denied the allegations. In a statement, she said the fund transaction in question had nothing to do with her father and had instead been carried out by another individual with the same first and last name.

The public deserves to know what happened. If the allegations are true, the necessary investigations should be conducted into those responsible, any public losses should be recovered, and the fate of the money should be established. If the allegations are false, that too should be explained with documentary evidence.

Meanwhile, the party leader is very busy. (!)

At the very least, a few MPs should bring to Parliament the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) rulings that Türkiye is obliged to comply with. Numerous cases remain unresolved, particularly those concerning Kavala, Demirtaş and the statutory decrees (KHKs).

The opposition’s conduct, both “from yesterday to today,” in response to the government’s actions is also an issue that must be debated publicly.

In a democracy, oversight is not limited to the ballot box.

The opposition’s conduct bears a substantial share of responsibility for the government’s ability to act with such impunity.
