Liberal Party Spokesperson Engin Avcı drew attention to KHK grievances through the Presidential Decision regarding Istanbul Bilgi University. Avcı stated that unlawful dismissals could also be reversed through a similar process.
Liberal Party Spokesperson Engin Avcı made a striking statement regarding grievances caused by Statutory Decrees (KHKs), referencing the recently published Presidential Decision concerning Istanbul Bilgi University. Referring to the cancellation of the university’s closure decision through an official decree published in the Official Gazette, Avcı argued that a similar political will could also be demonstrated for KHK victims.
In his statement, Engin Avcı said, “Istanbul Bilgi University was shut down overnight; and once again, the closure decision was revoked through a Presidential Decision. This proves that the issue is ultimately a matter of political will.” Avcı argued that unlawful dismissals could similarly be reversed and that individuals removed from public service could be reinstated through executive action.
The Liberal Party spokesperson also emphasized that many citizens affected by KHK-related measures have been pursuing legal justice for years. “Both the rule of law and the voice of conscience require this,” Avcı stated, calling for the elimination of grievances in order to strengthen social peace and the sense of justice in society.
While KHK regulations and decisions taken during the state of emergency period continue to spark public debate in Türkiye, Avcı’s remarks generated significant attention on social media. His statements also reignited discussions in legal, human rights, and public administration circles.
