Ferran Torres skips Barcelona training as PSG transfer edges closer, fueling transfer speculation and club updates.
What happened, where, who, when and main outcome: Barcelona forward Ferran Torres has been granted permission to skip Wednesday training in Barcelona as a move to Paris St-Germain advances, with the transfer reportedly likely to exceed £40m and Torres having one year left on his contract.
Torres, 26, scored the extra-time winner for Spain against Argentina in the World Cup final and had been due to return to Barcelona training on Wednesday. The forward will not attend as negotiations with PSG continue.
PSG, managed by Luis Enrique, are preparing for the Super Cup final in Salzburg while the Parisians could see Bradley Barcola linked with a move away this summer. Torres joined Barcelona in 2022 after two seasons at Manchester City and has scored 25 goals in 65 appearances for Spain.
The transfer talks involve Barcelona and Paris St-Germain and center on a fee reported to be above £40m. Torres has one year remaining on his Barcelona contract and has publicly commented that transfers can happen quickly. PSG are led by Luis Enrique and are active in the summer transfer window.
