Aston Villa bolster defense by signing Norway defender Mathilde Harviken from Juventus, adding experience and quality to their backline.
Aston Villa have signed Norway international Mathilde Harviken from Juventus, the club announced after the defender made nearly 50 appearances for the Italian side since joining in January 2025 and featured in the Women’s Champions League.
Harviken helped Juventus secure the Serie A title, the Coppa Italia in the 2024-25 season and the inaugural Serie A Women’s Cup in 2025. She began her career in Norway with FL Fart and Roa IL before joining Rosenborg in 2022, where she went on to make over 80 appearances.
The 24-year-old made her senior Norway debut in 2022 and was part of Norway’s squads at the 2023 Women’s World Cup and Euro 2025. Aston Villa’s director of women’s football Marisa Ewers said the club had tracked Harviken for over two years and valued her experience and development potential.
Harviken’s arrival follows a period of consistent senior and European competition involvement at Juventus and with Norway’s national team. The signing brings a defender with domestic trophies, Champions League exposure and international tournament experience to Aston Villa’s Women’s Super League squad.
