20th-21st Term Kırıkkale Member of Parliament Kemal Albayrak: “The Quest, From Nothingness to Existence!”

A quest is, in its simplest meaning, the pursuit of something or the determination to reach a goal. It can carry many meanings, but in our time it primarily represents the search for liberation from misrule, injustice, oppression, lawlessness, and countless other forms of wrongdoing.

I once visited a relative who, as we were leaving, said, “May God also give you hardship.” At first, those words sounded strange. Later I realized that hardship compels people to seek solutions. When illness comes, you search for a physician; when faced with injustice, you seek a remedy. Only today do I fully understand the wisdom behind that blessing.

The darker aspects of the human mind—its weaknesses, ambitions, resentments, aspirations, and struggles—together with the temptations of comfort, the burdens of poverty, the search for security, the refuge of faith, and the willingness to endure hardship in pursuit of purification are all realities of life. Morality is reflected in how we respond to them.

Fyodor Dostoevsky once wrote that, at the very moment he felt he was losing his sanity, he discovered a branch to hold onto. Much like the tension between doubt and faith, it is this struggle that shapes the path toward purpose.

It is difficult to understand a person solely by intellect or outward appearance. True judgment comes through actions. Humanity must embrace collective conscience and collective responsibility—qualities that define what it truly means to be human.

The choice between justice and tyranny, loyalty and betrayal, consent and oppression reveals a person’s true character.

Those who knowingly trade truth for privilege have already exposed themselves. Those who abandon dignity for personal gain have made their decision. There is little value in wasting energy on such people.

History is shaped by honorable individuals, while opportunists surrender themselves to corrupt and despotic powers.

Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his companions founded the Republic with the determination to free their nation from foreign domination. Mahatma Gandhi led India’s struggle for independence. Martin Luther King Jr. fought for the freedom and equality of African Americans. They are enduring symbols of humanity’s search for justice.

Had they surrendered to despair or hopelessness, would they have achieved their goals? Their greatness lies precisely in refusing to do so.

What unites those who dedicate themselves to meaningful change is their unwavering commitment to principles, their awareness of national decline, and their willingness to accept personal risk in pursuit of legitimate and peaceful resistance.

Was Plato wrong when he observed, “If you never light a fire in the cave, you mistake shadows for reality”?

Intellectuals, patriots, defenders of justice, the oppressed, and all those who suffer injustice must stand together. Through democracy, reason, and science, we must continue the search for an end to arbitrary rule. Silence is not an option.

Those who remain indifferent to corruption, injustice, and theft ultimately become accomplices to them.

Obstacles exist to be overcome. No matter how high the mountain, honorable people will always find a way across it.

The people are sovereign; those who govern are merely entrusted with responsibility.

To confront those who betray that trust is to defend the trust itself.

Where injustice prevails, those committed to the search for truth should stand beside political prisoners, intellectuals, artists, thinkers, the oppressed, and those who belong to no faction or ideology. That is the truest expression of respect for individual rights.

Every action, like every quest, must have a meaningful purpose. It is the purpose that determines whether an action serves good or evil.

Standing against a system in which corrupt elites divide the wealth while ordinary citizens, workers, retirees, and the vulnerable bear the burden of debt is both a moral obligation and a profoundly human responsibility.

Those who dream of changing the world should first begin by changing themselves.

No mask of morality can conceal injustice or hypocrisy forever.

Those who redefine justice according to political loyalty become instruments of exploitation.

Faith, patriotism, democracy, and religious devotion can never coexist with injustice or immorality.

Reason, science, the rule of law, democracy, and ethics are the pillars of a constitutional state. That is where the true search belongs.

Our common purpose is to build a system founded on the supremacy of law, human dignity, liberty, justice, productivity, labor, and collective wisdom.

We will either find a way—or we will create one. Our shared intentions are what unite us. 🇹🇷
