Guppy moving averages point to rising bearish momentum for Bitcoin, signaling increased selling pressure and potential further downside risk.
Bitcoin’s daily chart is showing a notable technical development: the price has fallen beneath both groups of the Guppy Multiple Moving Average (GMMA), and the short-term moving averages have crossed below the long-term ones. This alignment is often read as a shift from trader-driven optimism to selling pressure.
The GMMA consists of two sets of moving averages — a short-term bundle that reflects trader sentiment and a long-term bundle that captures investor conviction. When the short-term group moves beneath the long-term group, it signals traders are selling; if the long-term group then begins to slope lower as well, it suggests investors are also withdrawing support.
On bitcoin’s daily timeframe the long-term lines are not only being overtaken but are also compressing and starting to tilt downwards. This compression indicates investors are converging on a price level and are not aggressively buying, which strengthens the bearish interpretation because both traders and investors appear aligned toward selling.

Historically, similar GMMA crossovers preceded sharp declines: the late-May configuration was followed by a rapid fall below $60,000 in early June, while the late-January crossover foreshadowed a slide from about $90,000 to near $62,000.
Although the GMMA can be a powerful tool, it is not infallible. There were bearish confirmations in August and September 2025 that failed as prices quickly reversed higher. A crossover alone does not guarantee a sustained drop; the confirmation from long-term averages turning lower is what increases reliability.
Adding to the current cautionary picture are sharp ETF outflows, weakening U.S. demand, and elevated interest in downside protection via options — all signals that market participants may be preparing for further price weakness or exiting positions.
Conversely, seasonality tends to favor bitcoin after U.S. midterm elections, which could provide a countervailing force. Over the next few days, market flows and price action will clarify whether sellers or seasonal buyers prevail.
