Public discussion has centered on reports that İsmail Kahraman, Cemil Çiçek, and Bülent Arınç did not stand to applaud the “Great President Erdoğan” song during the AK Party’s Sakarya camp.

But perhaps the more important question is this:

While the country has been struggling with deep-rooted problems, did these prominent figures ever speak out or offer solutions? Why did they not use other platforms to warn society or those in positions of responsibility?

Was it an attempt to avoid upsetting either side?

Or was it the mindset of valuing political position over personal conviction?

Constructive criticism should be guided by principles and integrity.

This is not a place where unquestioning applause for political leaders should become the norm.

Is the prevailing attitude simply, “Remain silent, protect your position, and move on”?

Unfortunately, the country continues to bear the consequences of a political culture in which status, personal interests, and shifting loyalties often outweigh consistency, accountability, and principle.
