Selma Blair arrested following an onboard altercation that injured crew members; investigation and legal details emerge.
US actress Selma Blair was detained at John F Kennedy Airport after a Delta Air Lines flight from Los Angeles to New York City landed late following reports of a physically abusive passenger. Authorities said the incident on the flight injured at least two cabin crew members, and Blair was arrested after the aircraft arrived.
According to media reports, one flight attendant was punched and another was bitten during the alleged onboard altercation. The 54-year-old then reportedly assaulted a police officer and a nurse while being transported to hospital, and authorities said she experienced a medical emergency that led to the alleged conduct.
A representative for Selma Blair stated that she received immediate medical attention upon landing and that she is currently in stable condition. The FBI issued a summons accusing Blair of assaults on the plane, and she was arraigned on two counts of second-degree assault before being released on bail.
A new hearing in the case is scheduled for 19 January 2027. Delta Air Lines emphasized that the airline maintains a policy of zero tolerance for unruly or unlawful behaviour, citing the safety of customers and crew as the priority.
The incident raises questions about onboard safety and the handling of medical emergencies during flights, given that medical attention was administered immediately after landing. The combination of alleged violence toward crew members and subsequent interactions with law enforcement and medical personnel highlights the complex responses required in such situations.
The arraignment on two counts of second-degree assault and the scheduled hearing on 19 January 2027 indicate that the matter will proceed through the judicial system while public statements describe the actor as receiving medical treatment and being in stable condition.
