President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan welcomed the agreement reached between the United States and Iran, expressing hope that it would open the door to lasting peace and stability across the region.
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan evaluated the recently announced agreement between the United States and Iran following the Presidential Cabinet Meeting. Erdoğan stated that Türkiye supported diplomatic initiatives throughout the process and described the agreement as a potential turning point for regional peace.
“An agreement aimed at ending the conflict between the United States and Iran has been announced. We are highly pleased, on behalf of our region and humanity as a whole, with the agreement that was reached with our contributions as well,” Erdoğan said.
“WE CHOSE TO RAISE THE VOICE OF PEACE”
Emphasizing that Türkiye pursued a policy centered on prudence and diplomacy from the very beginning of the conflict, Erdoğan noted that Ankara remained in close contact with regional actors to prevent further escalation.
The president also stated that Türkiye, alongside Qatar and Saudi Arabia, provided strong support to mediation efforts led by Pakistan, reiterating that Türkiye stood on the side of peace rather than conflict.
“WE ARE GREATLY SATISFIED ON BEHALF OF HUMANITY”
Erdoğan expressed hope that the agreement would produce positive outcomes not only for the region but for the entire world.
“We hope that this agreement will fully open the path toward lasting peace and stability in our region,” he said.
Highlighting the sensitivity of the process, Erdoğan warned against provocative rhetoric and actions before the agreement is formally finalized. He added that Türkiye would continue to fulfill its responsibilities in safeguarding peace and stability.
NATO SUMMIT PREPARATIONS ALSO DISCUSSED
Erdoğan noted that, in addition to foreign policy issues, preparations for the NATO Leaders Summit scheduled to take place in Ankara on July 7–8 were also discussed during the Cabinet meeting.
Pointing to Türkiye’s strategic role within NATO, Erdoğan reminded that the country commands NATO’s second-largest land force and continues to play a decisive role in the alliance’s security architecture.
Concluding his remarks, Erdoğan stated that Türkiye would remain committed to supporting peace and stability both in regional crises and on international platforms.
