Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a strong statement on April 30, 2026, condemning the intervention against the Global Sumud Flotilla, which was established to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza. The Ministry described the action carried out by Israel forces in international waters as a clear act of “piracy.”

The statement emphasized that the flotilla aimed to draw attention to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, and that the intervention targeted not only the aid mission but also humanitarian values and international law. Türkiye underlined that the act constitutes a violation of the principle of freedom of navigation on international waters.

Calling Israel’s actions unlawful, Türkiye urged the international community to adopt a unified stance. The Ministry also noted that the situation of Turkish citizens aboard the flotilla is being closely monitored, and that all necessary diplomatic initiatives are being carried out in coordination with other countries.
