The Turkish Health Ministry announced on Tuesday new measures to address a recent rise in COVID-19 cases, emphasizing enhanced testing and targeted restrictions to curb spread.

The ministry said the measures, effective immediately, include increased PCR testing capacity at high-risk facilities and reinforced reporting requirements for local health authorities.

Officials indicated that the steps follow an observed uptick in positive cases over the past week and aim to protect vulnerable groups while keeping essential services operating.

Health authorities detailed that testing will be prioritized for healthcare workers, care home residents and contacts of confirmed cases, with mobile testing units deployed where needed.

The ministry also instructed hospitals to review bed capacity and prepare for potential short-term increases in admissions, while maintaining non-COVID care.

Local health directorates were asked to intensify contact tracing and to report daily case and hospitalization data to the national surveillance system for ongoing assessment.

Authorities stressed that vaccination efforts will continue, urging eligible individuals to receive booster doses according to current guidance.

The ministry concluded that the measures are temporary and will be adjusted based on epidemiological trends and health system indicators.
