Small Mooney M20F crashes near Titusville’s Space Coast Regional Airport; investigation underway and nearby road closed for safety and response.
A Mooney M20F four-seat propeller aircraft crashed near Space Coast Regional Airport in Titusville, Florida, officials said, and local police closed the nearby road on both sides after video showed a fiery impact around 10:00 EST.
The National Transportation Safety Board identified the aircraft as a Mooney M20F and confirmed it is investigating the incident. Titusville Police Department said the road was closed and that Florida Power and Light cut power in nearby areas as a precaution. It was not immediately clear if anyone was injured.
The crash occurred approximately 40 miles (64 km) due east of Orlando, authorities reported. The Titusville Police Department described the scene as involving a visible fire on the roadway in footage shared publicly.
Authorities have identified the aircraft type and initiated an NTSB investigation while local police secured the scene and coordinated with Florida Power and Light to cut power as a precaution. Video evidence showing the fiery impact prompted road closures on both sides by the Titusville Police Department.
