A passenger bus collided with a truck on the Istanbul-Izmir Highway in Manisa’s Akhisar district, killing 11 people and injuring 27. An investigation is ongoing.

MANISA, Türkiye – Eleven people were killed and 27 others injured after a passenger bus collided with a truck on the Istanbul-Orhangazi-Izmir Highway in the Akhisar district of Manisa. Manisa Governor Vahdettin Özkan confirmed the casualties and said the injured had been taken to hospitals, while investigations into the crash were ongoing.

The accident occurred on the Izmir-bound section of the highway near Ballıca neighborhood in Akhisar. According to initial reports, a My World Tur passenger bus bearing license plate 16 AED 124 collided with a truck bearing plate 78 YD 559. The impact caused the bus to overturn onto its side, while the truck veered off the road.

Emergency Teams Dispatched to the Scene

Following the report, firefighters from the Manisa Metropolitan Municipality, medical teams and highway gendarmerie traffic units were dispatched to the scene. The injured were transported to nearby hospitals. Eleven people lost their lives in the crash, while 27 others sustained injuries.

Governor Özkan Issues Statement

Manisa Governor Vahdettin Özkan said that passengers and truck drivers were involved in the accident. He confirmed that 11 people had died and 27 had been injured.

Özkan stated that 16 of the injured were classified under yellow triage status, nine under green status and one under red status when they were transferred to hospitals. He added that AFAD, firefighters, medical personnel and gendarmerie units were continuing their coordinated response at the scene.

The governor expressed his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives and wished them strength during their grief.

An investigation is underway under the coordination of the public prosecutor.
