Four suspects were arrested following two operations targeting alleged bribery and illegal mining activities in Zonguldak, Türkiye. A total of 16 people were detained, including a forest ranger, a Turkish Hard Coal Corporation employee, a mining concession holder, and 13 illegal mine operators. Police seized an unlicensed handgun and 68 rounds of ammunition. Eight suspects were released under judicial control, while four others were released after questioning by prosecutors.

Under the instructions of the Zonguldak Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, two separate operations were conducted on October 5 and 6, 2026, under the coordination of the Anti-Smuggling and Organized Crime Department (KOM) of the Zonguldak Provincial Police Directorate.
A total of 16 suspects were detained, including one forest ranger, one employee of the Turkish Hard Coal Corporation (TTK), one mining concession holder operating under a royalty agreement, and 13 operators of illegal mines.
During judicial searches, law enforcement officers seized one unlicensed handgun and 68 rounds of ammunition.
Four Suspects Arrested
On October 8, 2026, all 16 suspects were referred to the Zonguldak Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office. Four suspects, identified by the initials S.E. (42), S.A. (39), R.T. (38), and M.A. (60), were released after giving their statements to prosecutors.
The remaining 12 suspects were referred to court. Eight of them—T.O. (30), N.D. (49), M.A. (28), Ş.Y. (43), M.D. (41), K.Ç. (42), F.T. (54), and K.A. (41)—were released subject to judicial control measures.
The other four suspects, identified as M.O. (37), M.M. (49), E.A. (41), and K.B. (62), were remanded in custody by the court.
Police authorities stated that the fight against crime and offenders would continue with determination.
