The earthquake occurred at 9:42:06 a.m. local time on Friday, September 18, 2026. AFAD reported that the tremor originated at a depth of 5.46 kilometers, with its epicenter located in the Aegean Sea near Evvoia.

The seismic event was recorded at coordinates 38.96983° N latitude and 23.36183° E longitude. The epicenter was approximately 238.91 kilometers from Gökçeada in Çanakkale, Türkiye.
