Zübeyir Gülabi, Chairman of the Liberal Party, has criticized the payments made to victims of the Tera Fund scandal, insisting that investors must receive a full refund of their original capital and that those responsible must be held financially accountable.
Pointing to the case of an 18-year-old who invested 70,000 Turkish liras in the Tera Fund but received only 20,000 liras in repayment, Gülabi argued that the figures being presented to the public do not reflect the actual amounts paid to victims.
Gülabi made the following statement:
“They lie both when they steal and when they make repayments. Citizens must receive every last penny of their original investments, and every last penny must be recovered from those responsible for the fraud.
In the past, when we heard the word ‘robber,’ we thought of masked men carrying guns. Today, when we talk about robbers, we see the ‘gang of private office directors,’ former ministers and deputy chairpersons of the ruling party.
That is what the era of the Century of Plunder looks like.”
Gülabi’s remarks have brought renewed attention to the repayment process for Tera Fund victims and the question of whether those responsible will be held accountable.
