The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) announced that a magnitude 5.0 earthquake occurred in the Ionian Sea.

According to data released by AFAD’s Earthquake Department, the quake was recorded on June 14, 2026, at 21:16:58 (TSI). The epicenter was located in the Ionian Sea, while the earthquake’s magnitude was measured at 5.0 (Mw).

The earthquake occurred at coordinates 36.60972° North latitude and 21.07028° East longitude and was recorded at a depth of approximately 7 kilometers.

The earthquake, which struck a region known for active fault lines within the Mediterranean basin, raised the possibility that it may have been felt in neighboring countries. However, no reports of damage or casualties had been released in the immediate aftermath of the event.
