The company managing the memecoin calls the November event the “most exclusive dinner in the world.”
Investors in Donald Trump’s $TRUMP memecoin are being offered another opportunity to attend an event involving the US president, with the latest gathering scheduled for November.
The top 185 registered investors in the token will be invited to a dinner at Trump National, Trump’s private club in Washington, DC, on 22 November, according to the website managing $TRUMP events.
The organisation said investors’ VIP status, based on their engagement with the token, will be determined on 12 November.
The event is the third involving Trump’s memecoin investors and follows previous gatherings that drew criticism from Democratic lawmakers, who described them as an improper way of selling access to the White House.
The planned “gala dinner” was advertised as the “most exclusive dinner in the world”.
Following the announcement, the price of $TRUMP rose by about 10% to $2.25 before falling back towards levels seen in recent days.
The current price remains a small fraction of the token’s all-time high of approximately $74.
Organisers say three other “legends” will attend the dinner alongside Trump, although their identities have not yet been announced.
The event website also makes clear that attendees will not receive a private meeting or meet-and-greet with Trump.
That restriction had disappointed some participants at previous events, when Trump made brief appearances but did not meet investors individually.
Investors have lost billions of dollars since Trump’s memecoin was launched in the days before he returned to office.
Those losses have featured prominently in recent debates over the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, a Senate bill concerning the structure of the cryptocurrency market.
Democratic lawmakers had sought restrictions on digital-asset ties involving senior government officials, citing Trump’s cryptocurrency holdings and business interests.
The provision could not be agreed upon, and the bill failed to advance last month.
Trump had said he was prepared to accept some of the proposed restrictions and could potentially place his crypto holdings in a blind trust or divest them. The negotiations ultimately broke down when the legislation failed to advance.
The first Trump memecoin event was held at Trump’s Washington-area golf club.
Protesters, including congressional Democrats, gathered outside and accused the president of corruption while unidentified guests attended the event.
In April, Trump hosted another event for memecoin holders at Mar-a-Lago in Florida. Former champion boxer Mike Tyson appeared at that gathering.
For the November dinner, the highest-ranking VIP investors will receive gifts including a commemorative poster and “TRUMP fragrance”.
The event website’s current registration figures show that the leading investors seeking invitations each hold hundreds of thousands of $TRUMP tokens.
