Shotgun Fired at Police Officers on Duty: 2 Police Officers Injured

Türkiye – In Uşak’s Ulubey district, two police officers were injured after being fired upon with a shotgun while responding to a domestic violence and fight report.

The incident took place on Kurtuluş Street in Dilaver Neighborhood. According to reports, police teams who arrived at the address following a domestic violence and disturbance call came under fire from a shotgun as they reached the house. Police officers İ.Ş. and E.E.A. were injured in the attack.

Upon notification, numerous police units and 112 Emergency Health teams were dispatched to the area. The injured officers were taken to Uşak Training and Research Hospital after initial medical treatment. Following the incident, the suspect was identified as E.R. (40). Security forces launched an operation to capture the suspect, who fled the scene, while wide security measures were implemented in the area.

During the ongoing search, drone-supported operations were carried out. The suspect was located hiding in an abandoned building in the town center. When he opened fire again on approaching teams, Special Operations units were deployed to the scene. After approximately three hours of efforts, the suspect surrendered following persuasion attempts and was taken into custody.

Uşak Governor Serdar Kartal made statements regarding the incident.

Governor Kartal visited the Ulubey District Police Department and received information from Ulubey District Governor İbrahim Çoşkunaslan, Provincial Police Chief Taner Çiftçi, and Provincial Gendarmerie Commander Özgür Kılıç.

In his statement, Kartal said: “Today we experienced a heinous attack in our Ulubey district. Police officers who went to respond to a domestic violence complaint were fired upon at close range with a shotgun by an attacker. One of our officers was seriously injured and was transferred to İzmir. The other officer was injured in the leg and has been discharged. He is currently resting at home. The suspect was apprehended alive by our Special Operations teams after being persuaded to surrender. Both judicial and administrative investigations are ongoing.”
