Turkey – Istanbul, Başakşehir: A 21-year-old suspect identified as A.H.Ç., who was found to have committed theft and failed to comply with a police “stop” warning, was captured after a brief chase when the tires of his vehicle were deflated. The suspect was fined 330,000 TL and taken into custody on charges of “theft from an open area.”

The incident occurred yesterday morning on İstiklal Street in Şamlar Neighborhood, Başakşehir. According to reports, police teams attempted to stop A.H.Ç., who was observed acting suspiciously due to a suspected theft in an open area. Ignoring the “stop” warning, the suspect attempted to flee by car. After a short pursuit, police deflated the vehicle’s tires and detained him.

During a search on the suspect, two mobile phones believed to be stolen, along with 17,330 TL, 320 US dollars, and 80 euros, were seized. The suspect was also fined a total of 330,000 TL for failing to obey the police stop order, driving without a license, and dangerous driving (“weaving through traffic”). The vehicle with license plate 34 MVY 998 was impounded for 120 days.

It was learned that the suspect will be referred to judicial authorities today on charges of “theft from an open area.”
