CRISES MAKE PEOPLE SEARCH FOR A “DOOR”

Morality does not expect applause. Morality is the way of behaving exhibited in the face of the facts that life presents to human beings. Civilization, on the other hand, is the morality of living together. The principles of living together are the division of labor, political unity, being in order, and a sense of responsibility.

Systems that develop a consciousness of freedom can solve problems. Otherwise, people begin to look for illegitimate “doors.” If legal avenues of resolution are blocked, people turn to the doors of political parties, religious communities, influential individuals, the mafia, exploiters of religion, and other power centers.

State and politics that cannot provide the guarantee of reason, science, law, and peace push citizens to the doors of parallel and dirty structures. Rebellion against evil is the foundation of morality. It is important for a person to apply the moral standards they impose on themselves to others as well.

Knowledge is important in the right march that begins from birth and extends to maturity; wisdom, on the other hand, guides this journey by revealing its method. In this process, we need to question whether we act in accordance with logic, reason, and virtue. Instead of surrendering to the opinion of the crowds, it is important to act in harmony with knowledge and wisdom.

Those who do not care about these matters often take refuge in the concept of “state reason” (raison d’état) as a justification. However, we frequently see that state reason is shaped by the reflex of power holders to protect their own power, rather than aiming for the welfare of the people and the state. “State reason” can often turn into a defense mechanism developed by power centers against their own anxieties and fears. The rhetoric of “survival” (beka) is also often a part of this understanding. Such justifications pave the way for fear and the search for illegitimate doors.

Moral values must not be lost on the path to the goal. State resources cannot be used in a way that becomes the enemy of liberties. The danger of this is the creation of masses who believe everything they are told, who do not question, and who remain silent in the face of injustice and unlawfulness for the sake of their own interests. Captive people do not take responsibility. Risks define characters.

Night is the time of searching. If we understand the past correctly, we can organize today better. The flower is instrumental in the emergence of the fruit; however, the formation of the fruit also brings about the disappearance of the flower.

This quote by Martin Luther is meaningful: “God does not need our works; however, the people we live with and our neighbors need our works.”

No matter how long the night is, it has a morning. Good people do not come together by chance; their common intentions bring them together.

In an environment where people live in oppression, fear, misery, and injustice; we came together with wise people who think, carry responsibility, and aim to use knowledge in beneficial areas. We held consultations on the erosion of trust in institutions, the language of politics, polarization, tribalism (neighborhood politics), local and central government relations, the use of state resources according to power, the traps set, the suffering of people subjected to unlawfulness, economy, and politics.

• We give importance to all civil initiatives similar to this.
• The meeting of many minds around common principles is of great importance.
• A shepherd cannot practice shepherding by eating his own flock.

Wise people stand out, especially during periods of severe crisis, with the roles they play in transforming the country into a state governed by the rule of law, in democratization, in ensuring the security of property, and in standing against the atrocities caused by arbitrariness.

Our effort is to struggle for the governance system in the country to turn into a principled, limited, and auditable structure. A ship cannot be steered with a monolithic (single-type) understanding of human beings. Knowledge shows the way, but wisdom makes one walk on that path.

Those who cannot use the freedoms they have are forced to live the lives they do not have. We have seen deaths by freezing and burning; yet we have not forgotten that living by remaining silent also consumes a human being.

A person can be mistaken in two ways: Either they believe in something that is not true, or they refuse to believe in something that is true.

Real failure is refusing to start the journey or giving up when someone says “no” to you. What matters is to take steps courageously while being aware of these. The search itself is a reward. We talked about these with the sages of the search.

What should we say? We have planned our roadmap within the framework of cadre structuring, sustainability, financial matters, law, correct diagnoses, and the roles we will assume.

Instead of a polarized politics deepened by the crisis of trust; there is a need for a culture of consultation where the center is not a person-centered approach, but conscience, dialogue, hope, reason, and science.

Liberation brings a new foundation; and a solid foundation brings its continuity.
