King Charles III of the United Kingdom and his wife, Queen Camilla, arrived at the White House as part of their official visit to the United States. The couple was welcomed by U.S. President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump.

King Charles III and Queen Camilla arrived at the White House for the first official visit by a British monarch to the United States since Queen Elizabeth II’s visit in 2007. Welcomed by President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump, the couple attended a special tea reception held in their honor. King Charles and Queen Camilla also toured the South Lawn of the White House, where they visited a beehive. The couple later departed the White House under heavy security to attend an outdoor reception organized in their honor at the British Embassy.

A busy schedule awaits King Charles

As part of his four-day visit to the United States, King Charles III is expected to hold a bilateral meeting with President Donald Trump, deliver a speech at a joint session of the U.S. Congress, and attend an official State Dinner at the White House held in his honor. King Charles and Queen Camilla are also scheduled to travel to New York to visit the 9/11 Memorial, followed by participation in cultural events in Virginia.

No changes to the program had been announced

An armed attack at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner, attended by President Donald Trump and Vice President James David Vance, had raised security concerns regarding the official visit of King Charles III and Queen Camilla to the United States. Buckingham Palace stated that the visit would proceed as planned, saying: “Following discussions held throughout the day with parties on both sides of the Atlantic, and in line with government advice, we can confirm that Their Majesties’ official visit will continue as planned. The King and Queen are grateful to everyone who worked swiftly to make this possible and look forward to the visit.”
