Everton have reached an agreement to sign Chelsea winger Tyrique George for a fee reported to be up to £24m, the clubs confirmed, with the transfer subject to personal terms and a medical. The deal, agreed on Merseyside, revises an earlier option-to-buy arrangement and includes add-ons and a sell-on clause, while the immediate outcome is that George is set to become an Everton player once formalities are complete.

Chelsea and Everton renegotiated the fee so the upfront payment is around £18m, with the remainder payable through performance-related add-ons tied to appearances and European qualification. Chelsea will receive a 15% sell-on clause as part of the agreement.

George, 20, spent the second half of last season at Everton on loan after moving to Goodison Park for four months under a loan with an option to buy for £25m. During that spell he made 11 appearances, starting once, and drew praise from manager David Moyes, who described him as an “excellent boy with an excellent work-rate.”

The winger is an England under-21 international and a product of Chelsea’s academy. He has been available for transfer for the past 12 months, during which he held talks with RB Leipzig, and a proposed £22m move to Fulham collapsed on transfer deadline day in September 2025.

With the Everton agreement now pending personal terms and medical clearance, the move would follow Everton’s earlier summer signing of Hayden Hackney from Middlesbrough for £16m, excluding add-ons. Other squad changes include German midfielder Merlin Rohl making his loan from SC Freiburg permanent after a successful spell, while Idrissa Gana Gueye and Seamus Coleman left at the end of their contracts.

The clubs’ announcements indicate Everton have structured the transaction to balance immediate outlay and future payments, reflecting both sides’ negotiating positions. If completed, the transfer adds to Everton’s summer recruitment as they prepare for the coming season.
