From a career perspective, Duran began his senior football with Lusitania in the Portuguese District League, moved to Estrela Amadora, then returned to help Lusitania gain promotion to Liga 3 before joining Portimonense in Liga 2.

Last season at Qarabag he made 48 appearances, 33 as a starter, scoring 15 goals and providing 10 assists. These figures and his Champions League form contributed to Celtic’s interest.

The transfer fee was not disclosed and O’Neill did not provide further financial details, but indicated the club hopes to complete further business in the next couple of weeks.
